Changes in Latitudes..you can fill in the rest!

March 31st, 2010

One of my oldest friends, Kyle Moppert, joins me on the island of Roatan for a wek of chasing Bonefish and Permit. So far it has been a great week here in the caribbean! We have been fishing Port Royal Flat with good succes. On Monday I landed a nice bonefish of about two pounds, Kyle got one to hand about one and a half lbs. For the size no fish I Have ever caught fights like a Bone. Yesterday, 3/30/10 I finally caught a real nice one of about four lbs. The perfect situation, land the fly 10′ in front of the feeding fish and wait (and hope) they move across it, then with a smalll strip the Bone inhailed the tan Merkin Crab pattern, and the fight was on! He ran me into my backing twice on long and powerful runs that made me glad I had selected the 9wt for my rod. After bringing the fish to release (after ictures of course the rest of the day was spent looking for his friends and taking a few local snapper for dinner!

New Bedroom…more room in the cabin!

March 21st, 2010

Just this week the long awaited addition to the cabin is complete! Soon we will have new pictures on the website to reflect the new room, but needless to say it opens the whole cabin up with more space. With the queen bed and new “hide-a-bed” along with the futon the cabin will sleeep two couples and a couple of kids!
My good friend Mike Howard of Austin Texas helped me put the final touches on the cabin and do a little fishing, the weather was fantastic for late March and the fish were hungry! We caught and released over two hundred trout, one crappie and a chain pickerel over a two day period right behind the cabin from the Weir dam to the meat hole. Bead head wooly buggers were the ticket of the day….good fishing and everyone will enjoy the extra space…..

Fishing in Feb ‘10

February 22nd, 2010

My Brother-in-law, Wes Singleterry of Mobile, Alabama joined me for a week of fishing Feb 16-21. Although the river didn’t co-operate, they generated from 5am til midnight, we did go up to Albert Pike on the headwaters of the Little Mo and found the trout to be very cooperative. Wes caught his first rainbows on a fly and I believe he is hooked! I also started the long awaited bedroom extenstion! I hope to have it finished by March 20, 2010. this will give the cabin a seperate bedroom and by having a sofa couch along with the futon will have the ability to sleep 6! The generation stopped over the weekend and the trout were very eager to take any good looking fly presented to them, Wes went home with a full limit to enjoy til his next trip. Good fishing to everyone and check soon for new pictures of the addition!Wes Singleterry with his first trout!

Water, water everywhere and not a place to fish!

October 19th, 2009

Rita and I blasted up to the cabin Friday night and found the river running full tilt…and it continued like that till we left on Sunday afternoon! The lake level looks very high and it seems the river will be unfishable for a while. The generation schedule, check it out on www.littlemissouriflyfishing.com, says the river will be ok and the weekends but from what I saw it may be a while before they shut it down.

recent fishing on the Little Mo

October 11th, 2009

The Weather has been a major factor in the trout fishing on the Mo. Heavy rains have had the Narrows Dam generating from 9am til 11pm Monday thru Friday. The weekends have been calm and some fish have been caught at the Wall hole mostly of a small green wolly bugger without hackle and a red bed head or with brown emergers, Jeff’ long creek has been real effective as usual. The first of this years stockings is scheduled during the week of October 16 at Hinds Bluff…get those Zebra midges warmed up! Over Labor Day I caught a 21″ Rainbow at Riverside on my 3 wt….what fun! Great fishing and tight lines!
